Wet Paint: Red Rocks amphitheater

This is a gift for someone, and although I am pleased with the finished product, I have been really surprised at the positive response I have gotten for it because I don’t think it’s my best work– it’s fine. It is a bit frustrating (for me) as an artist to share work that is really meaningful that doesn’t seem to touch many, but when I paint a recognizable landscape, people are overwhelmingly complimentary as has been the case with this piece. I suppose this is another lesson in doing what resonates with you, rather than what outside feedback from the masses tells you to do.

Red Rocks amphitheater, 11″ x 14″, 2018- mixed media with bronze and gold ink highlights on paper.

But I’ll be close behind and I’ll follow you into the dark,
No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white,
Just our hands clasped so tight, waiting for the hint of a spark…”
